Sooke Road re-opened after crash

Sooke Road at Sooke River Road has been reopened after a two-car crash around 11:16 a.m.Sooke fire chief Steve Sorensen said a pickup truck crossed the centre line and sideswiped a Volkswagaon Jetta. The male driver of the Jetta had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Victoria General Hospital by B.C. Ambulance paramedics. The woman driving the pickup truck was uninjured. Sorensen said the cars were badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Traffic was being diverted around the crash via Edward Milne Road but the wreckage has now been cleared. Sooke RCMP are investigating the cause of the crash and have not yet said if either of the drivers will face charges under the Motor Vehicle Act.
