Police believe that speed was a contributing factor to the death of a 55-year-old Saanich resident in a motorcycle crash near Durrance Lake on Thursday evening.
Emergency responders attended Willis Point Road just after 5 p.m., finding a motorcyclist with “significant injuries,” said Saanich police spokesperson Jason Hallman.
The rider was taken to hospital but died due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Hallman said collision analysts from Saanich’s Traffic Safety Unit are investigating, but “early indications are that speed was a contributing factor in the crash.”
