Driver fails breath test after hitting light post in Oak Bay

In addition to receiving a driving prohibition, the driver was given a $276 ticket for not having a driver鈥檚 licence, and the vehicle was towed for a 30-day impoundment.

A 22-year-old woman was given an immediate 90-day driving prohibition by Oak Bay police after her vehicle left the road early on Dec. 2 and struck a light post.

Police responded about 1 a.m. to the incident in the 3200-block of Beach Drive, in the vicinity of Lansdowne Road.

Neither the woman nor her two passengers was injured.

Officers suspected the driver had consumed alcohol and demanded a breath sample, which indicated her blood-alcohol level was .10 — above the legal limit of .08.

In addition to receiving a driving prohibition, the driver was given a $276 ticket for not having a driver’s licence and the vehicle was towed for a 30-day impoundment.
