Saanich plans to start replacing the timber decking on a bridge on the Lochside Regional Trail just north of McKenzie this month.
The district says it will set up a detour route for pedestrians and cyclists via Willow and Borden streets to the west while work on the Willow Bridge is underway.
Cyclists will be required to dismount at the 1.5-metre-wide Willow Street sidewalk connector.
Saanich said in a notice on Wednesday that trail users should follow signage and use caution around equipment and crew in the detour route area.
The existing timber decking is degraded and will be removed and replaced with new timber to ensure safe movement of pedestrians and cyclists, the district said.
Construction work is weather dependent and is expected to take approximately two weeks once underway, according to Saanich.
