The upcoming 91原创 Opera Victoria season will feature a trio of classic operas and appearances by several notable cast members, many of whom are making their POV debuts in 2022-23.

Georges Bizet’s iconic Carmen opens the season Oct. 12, with Montreal mezzo-soprano Carolyn Sproule making her POV debut in the title role. The Birds, by German composer Walter Braunfels, opens Feb. 22. Montreal soprano Claire de Sévigné, a rising star in the classical music world, will occupy the role of Nachtigal/Nightingale in her inaugural POV performance.

The season closes with four performances of Mozart’s Così fan tutte, which begin April 12 with Australian soprano Lauren Fagan (in the role of Fiordiligi) and Chinese mezzo-soprano Hongni Wu (Dorabella) both taking the stage with POV for the first time.

Founding artistic director Timothy Vernon, in his final full season with the company, will conduct each production.
