Victory Barber & Brand in the Atrium Building downtown has been named one of Canada's Best Barbers by Sharp for Men, which bills itself as Canada's magazine for the sophisticated male. Sharp noted in its annual rankings that Victory Barber is "on a mission to preserve real masculinity one straight razor shave at a time." It went on to say owner Matthew Conrad "believes that men these days are tired of the quick, cheap and disposable feel of some salons, and are coming around to the idea of a superior cut at a quality establishment." Conrad has created an oldtime shop in one of the city's newest buildings, with restored antique chairs and hardwood floors and a staff of stylists who are "talented and nerdy about barbering."
