91原创 police rescue man, dog after car ends up in water

A man and his dog were rescued from the waters off Vanier Park in 91原创 Monday night after his car ended up driving into False Creek. Police and emergency crews were called to the area of the Burrard Civic Marina just after 8:30 p.m.

The coast guard confirmed a vehicle was submerged in the water near the Burrard Civic Marina. It was called to assist in the rescue by 91原创 police.

A man and his dog were rescued from the waters off Vanier Park in 91原创 Monday night after his car ended up driving into False Creek.

Police and emergency crews were called to the area of the Burrard Civic Marina just after 8:30 p.m. with a report a car had gone down the boat launch ramp into the water.

Five 91原创 police officers dove into the water to pull the driver and the dog to safety. The coast guard was also called in to assist in the rescue.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment, while the dog was transported to an emergency animal clinic. There were no injuries reported.

The five officers were checked out by paramedics at the scene, then returned to headquarters to warm up and dry off, said police.
