Several horses have perished after a fire broke out at a Langley farm Sunday.
The Langley Township fire department received a call at around 2:40 p.m. about a fire at a commercial structure in the 3300-block 224th Street.
Firefighters arrived to find a wooden barn at All Seasons Mushrooms fully engulfed in flames, said district fire chief Russ Jenkins.
鈥淲e can confirm there were horses in there,鈥 said Jenkins. 鈥淪ome of them didn鈥檛 make it.鈥
Up to 18 horses were killed in the stable fire. Two people were treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire started in the barn and did not affect any other buildings.
Jenkins said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. It took firefighters about two hours to get the blaze under control.
