PRINCE GEORGE 鈥� A 29-year-old Chetwynd man is at the centre of a police investigation following Saturday's crash of a pickup truck into a home at the corner of Ospika Boulevard and James Drive.
Police believe excessive speed and alcohol were factors in the collision that left a 2007 Chevrolet pickup partially resting in the home's second-floor bedroom.
A man had been sleeping in the room but had left just moments before, according to RCMP. Two other adults were asleep on the bottom floor and were uninjured while the truck's driver and passenger were transported to hospital with minor injuries.
"It is remarkable that no one was seriously hurt in this collision," Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said. "A few seconds earlier and the results could have been far worse."
Initial indications are that the truck was heading south on Ospika when the driver failed to negotiate a left hand bend and went off the right side of the road, then travelled through a bushy area, rolled through the back yard and ended up stuck in the home tail first.
A portion of Ospika Boulevard was closed to traffic while investigators gathered evidence and so that the vehicle could be safely removed. Damage is estimated to be well in excess of $100,000.
The driver's name was not released.
