Surrey Mounties are investigating the city's 12th drive-by shooting since the beginning of March after a gunman in a silver car opened fire on a black Honda Wednesday morning in Newton.
"This is just frickin' outrageous," said Sue Hammell, NDP MLA for Surrey-Green Timbers. "People are very, very frightened."
Most of the shootings have been in her constituency. Hammell was first elected in 1991.
"I have never seen anything like this," she said.
"I have never seen this kind of carelessness and complete disregard for the community they live in," she said of the gangsters. "We worry about our reputation; I think we should worry about our safety."
The latest shooting, at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, happened near 128th Street and 64th Avenue.
Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet said it's not yet known if anyone was injured.
"We've got members everywhere pulling over black and silver cars," he said.
