One ice climber is dead and two are missing after an apparent accident near Pemberton on Sunday.
Mounties and Pemberton Search and Rescue are now searching for the two missing people, who were part of a group of climbers and skiers visiting the area around Mount Joffre.
The group had planned to meet at the end of the day, but the climbers failed to show up. When the skiers went out to look for them, they discovered that one of their friends was dead.
"From the information we have it appears that one climber may have suffered a fall, while the other two are unaccounted for," RCMP Sgt. Rob Knapton said.
Searchers have yet to retrieve the dead person's body.
"Our first focus, of course, is trying to determine if there's anyone who's alive," Knapton said.
The RCMP has not released the names of the dead and missing climbers.
